Week in review

My birthday week has been wonderful (so far, I’m still celebrating!).

Rob and the kids were very, very generous. The kids wrote and performed a play about my life (well, the mothering part). I was presented with a big bouquet of balloons and a bunch of handmade cards. And then the presents: House: Season 3, a fancy coffee maker, a candle for my craft room and a gift card for Michael’s. Perfect!

MIL sent $100 so I went and bought myself this sewing machine. I’m going to get started learning how to work it today. I used to sew, in high school. I had a similar simple machine and made skirts and bags. I want to make this dress as my first project. I think I’ll just try it out with old sheets to practice. If it works, I’ll invest in some actual dress fabric. Looks simple enough.

I would really like to attend this event tonight, in Brooklyn, but I don’t have anyone to go with and I’m feeling a bit to shy to go alone. I wish I’d stayed longer and made friends at the Flea. :/ I am going out tomorrow night to an adult toy party. That should be lots of fun and another way to celebrate my birthday. Maybe I’ll work on getting myself a date to one or more of the Full Figure Fashion Week events at the end of the month. Perfect way to celebrate Pride, no?

I’m still drooling over houses in NC (what’s that? 4 bedrooms, 2 acres, $220k??!! sign me up!). We’ll be heading down in August to look at towns and neighborhoods. And then in September, Rob and the kids are going to Disney with his parents. I’m not going. I have zero desire to do anything Disney (I don’t like amusement parks) and 3 adults is really plenty to take the kids. So, I’ll have a full week home alone. The thought makes me anxious and excited. I’ll probably just work a lot and save money for my trip to Vegas that I’m planning for October. Maybe Sitscation, maybe just a random weekend of fun with friends.
